A talk featuring philosopher Bruno Latour
According to the web site, both events are free and open to the public; no tickets, no reservations required. Seating is on a first come, first served basis.
Hey, can you tape the Latour talk and post it on Youtube?? Please, please??
I’m so technologically inept it’s a wonder that I’m even able to maintain this blog. But, you’re in luck! The Heyman Center usually posts videos of talks a month or two after they are given. I’ll give you a heads up when it does Latour’s talk – which I’m definitely going to.
Thanks, Andrew, then, we should have one of these Vlogging debate thingie where we’d discuss our thoughts on Latour’s talk, then posted on YouTube… that should guarantee us instant fame and fortune.
On a different topic, are you going to the ASA meeting this year?
Yes, er, maybe. I have to figure this out. I’m thinking of going to the International AIDS Conference in Mexico City since my dissertation will supposedly be about HIV/AIDS, or whatever (long story), but that conference is right before and overlaps with the start of ASA. So can I make it from NYC to Mexico City to Boston? Hmm. That’s a bit to ask. In any event, are you going – and if so you know about this blogging get-together that happens every year?
Yeah, I’m going. I haven’t gone these past 2 years, so, I need my fix this year.
Yes, I definitely plan on going to the blogging get-together, but I was also thinking we could have a smaller venue for us smaller (non-scatterplot) socbloggers.
Thanks for the tip about the Latour talk potentially being posted. i was a bit disappointed when i was sitting in my office last night working on a few things to kill the time before that talk only to look up and realize it was 8:30.
Interestingly (to me), i was just today considering whether the NYC-Mexico City-Boston circuit is going to be doable for myself this summer. Still no verdict on my end.
Hi Shrinking Isaac, thanks for coming by. Always good to know about people nearby, and one who’s done/doing work in an area I’m thinking of pursuing, to boot. I’d be interested in finding out what you decide to do about August. I’d like to go to both conferences, but that’s an expensive and somewhat logistically difficult proposition.
